SFC Director: Hugh Brown

Hugh BrownHugh Brown is the Founder and Director of the Synergy Football Club.

Hugh holds an 'A' license from the United States Soccer Federation and is entering his 20th year as a full-time professional coach.

Hugh Brown is recognized as one of the most passionate and talented player development experts on the national soccer scene. Brown is widely recognized for his ability to develop highly technical players and teams that play an attractive international style of football.

Brown began his coaching career in Atlanta, Georgia and arrived in Vermont in 2003 when he was hired to assist the Men's Team at the University of Vermont by NCAA coaching legend Roy Patton.

In addition to coaching at the highest levels of Youth Soccer and coaching at the professional level (PDL & USL) Hugh spent Seven years at the NCAA Division I Collegiate level and Eight years with the Olympic Development Program (ODP) in Region III (southeast).

Brown currently has former players competing at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels and numerous others that have gone on to play at the professional level in the United States and Europe.

Numerous players have been selected to Olympic Development Program (ODP) Region teams in both Region III and Region I. Several of Brown's players have also been selected to represent the United States in National Team competitions.

Since founding Synergy FC in 2005 Coach Hugh's teams and players have put Vermont on the national soccer map. Synergy FC was the first club in Vermont soccer history to win group play and advance to the US Youth Soccer Regional semifinals in 2006 and again in 2009.

Synergy made history again in 2014 when the SFC U16 Academy Team won their Group and advanced to the US Youth Soccer semifinals. The team went into the uncharted territory when they beat New Jersey in the semifinal and advanced to the US Youth Soccer Region I Championship match against Baltimore Celtic. Baltimore won the 2014 Regional Final over Synergy FC and went on to win the 2014 U16 National Championship as well.

In April 2010 Synergy became the first and only club in Vermont soccer history to compete in the prestigious Dallas Cup. In May 2010 Synergy broke the record book open again by winning gold at the US Club Soccer Regional Championship, winning the group stage at the National Championships in Virginia Beach before losing in the National Championship Final.

The diverse and extensive experience that Hugh possesses enables him to expose the players at Synergy FC to the highest standards of Technical, Tactical, Physical, Psychological and Lifestyle Development.

 

SFC Coach: Phil McCormick

Coach Phil McCormick has been on the Synergy FC Coaching Staff since 2015.

Phil played his entire youth career for the Synergy Football Club from age 12 thru 18. During his SFC playing days Phil was a stellar performer with an intense work rate and highly competitive spirit.  

Phil travelled across the United States as a player with the SFC while playing in some of the nations most prestigious and competitive events such as the Dallas Cup (Texas), Disney Showcase (Florida), US Club Soccer National Championships (Virginia Beach) and multiple Region I Championships.

"As a football educator Phil is instilling the Synergy FC Values that he learned while playing for the club  into every player he coaches, while also teaching the principles for playing great football. Phil is straight forward and honest, the SFC Players are lucky to have him on their side," commented SFC Director Hugh Brown.

Phil was a four year starter for Saint Michaels College (NCAA DII) from 2012 thru 2015 and graduated with distinction in May 2016. 

 

SFC Coach: Brad Jimmo

Coach Brad joined the Synergy FC Coaching Staff in 2008.

Coach Brad played soccer at Mt. Abraham Union High School and for the Vermont State Select Team in the early eighties. Brad went on to play at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology), where he earned a BS Degree. Coach Brad continued his education at the University Of Vermont College Of Medicine earning his MD. Brad currently practices as a General Surgeon in Rutland and Burlington.

"Coach Brad knows good football and he demands quality performances from the SFC Players everyday. Brad's son is proof of what you can accomplish if you are dedicated and motivated", commented SFC Director Hugh Brown.

Brad's son Nolan Jimmo played for Synergy FC from age 8 thru 17 when he left the US to play in Spain during his senior year (2016/2017). Nolan played in the U18 Spanish First Division throughout the 2016-2017 year and has signed to play collegiate soccer at the University of Vermont (NCAA DI).   

Brad resides in Hinesburg.

 

SFC Coach: Sam Pugliese

Coach Sam has worked with SFC since 2008.

When Sam is not on the field with the SFC Players he works as an architect.

"Sam is a highly intelligent and articulate individual and he understands and appreciates good football. Sam has had the opportunity to view top training sessions in Italy (AC Milan) and FC Barcelona and is a true student of the game. Sam is highly dedicated to the SFC players and the SFC playing philosophy," commented SFC Director Hugh Brown.

Sam's son Antonio Pugliese played for Synergy FC from age 7 thru 15 when he received a full scholarship to attend the IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida) where he plays in the US Developmental Academy League. Antonio was a Region I Team selection while at the SFC and has trained with the US U17 National Team while at IMG. 

Sam's daughter plays basketball at the collegiate level.

Sam resides in Charlotte, Vermont.

 

SFC Coach: Lee Williamson

Coach Lee Williamson has coached with the Synergy Football Club and the Genesis Football Club (Girls) since 2015.

Lee came over to coach in the US from Ireland thru the GPS (Global Premier Soccer) coaching identification program.

"Coach Lee is extremely passionate about football and has been a great fit with the philosophy and values inside the Synergy Football Club", Commented SFC Director Hugh Brown.

Lee is a full-time professional coach and brings great insight and European experience to the club.
